What is “The Year of Giving”?
The Year of Giving (sometimes known here as YoG) is my attempt to give back to the stitching community. I have decided that I will be doing 12 RAKs (Random Acts of Kindness), one a month, throughout 2016. In order to receive a RAK, you simply need to be a subscriber of my YouTube channel and submit your information via the Year Of Giving Form. That’s it.
If you would like to help support the Year of Giving, please consider buying some needle minders from my shop. A percentage of the profits from each minder sold will be used to fund YoG, as well as giveaways for my YouTube channel.

New Needle Minders

One-Off Needle Minders

**IMPORTANT: There is only ONE of each of these minders. First come, first serve. A Special Thanks to The Evergreen Needle for donating the jewelry for the minders! Check out her YouTube channel! **

How to Order:
If you want to purchase a minder, click the “View Product” link below the photo of the minder you want to buy. Then click “Contact Seller” and fill out the form. You can either do that for every minder you want, or just include a list of the minders you want in the “Message” section of the “Contact Seller” window. Be sure to include your email address, as I will contact you to confirm your order and send you an invoice via PayPal.
Please be aware that prices listed do not include shipping. Please take care to input your complete and correct mailing address. I will only ever charge exact shipping, so I need your mailing address with your order to calculate shipping. Please give between 24-48 hours (weekdays) after payment for your order to ship as I make the minders to order.
And remember, a percentage of the profits from each minder will go towards the Year of Giving!

New Minders

My apologies, but the catalog I use for minders is currently having problems with images. Here is what is still available. To purchase, just email me at heather@heatherstitches.com

The pattern store is now live! The link is in the navigation bar above. All patterns are instant downloads. Payments are secured through PayPal. I’ll try to add at least one new pattern per week. There will be more full coverage patterns but also non-full coverage, including card-sized patterns.

Year of Giving: Q & A

I’ve been planning on making a video for this for like two weeks, but I just really haven’t felt up to it, so I thought I’d just type this out quickly so I’d have something up before the 1st.
I’ve gotten some questions regarding the YoG, so I thought I’d answer them before it actually starts. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me (heather@heatherstitches.com), comment here, or PM me on any social media you’d like.

Questions:
#1: I don’t understand how to submit my address, can you help me?
— Yes. I made this short video walking you through exactly what you need to do:

#2: What percentage of purchases from Needle Minders sales goes towards the Year of Giving?
— It varies slightly. It will NEVER be under 20%. Right now it is at 20% so I have enough to buy more stock and still have a good amount going into YoG. As my stock of minders increases, the percentage towards the YoG fund will increase, since I won’t be buying more until I sell my stock.
For the new charting service, right now, 100% is going towards the YoG fund. If I need to buy more minders and don’t have the funds from past sales to do it, I might change that. But somehow, directly or non-directly, all money is going back into the community.

#3: How winners are chosen?
— Winners will be chosen by me on the first of every month. I will see how many entries there are, put that number into random.org and let it chose a number. So if it chooses number 15, the 15th entry wins. A person can only win once, so once they win and have received their RAK, their names will be noted as winners and will be ineligible to win again.
I’m choosing the winners at the beginning of the month in order to have the rest of the month to gather their goodies and post their package, which I will do probably in the last week of the month. So if you win in January, for example, you most likely won’t receive your RAK until February.

#4: How will we know who wins?
— You might not. I will not be announcing the winners on my channel automatically. In my RAK package, I will include a note asking for notification that they’ve received it (though all packages will have USPS tracking) and asking if it is ok if I use their names on my next videos to announce their win. If they don’t want their names used, I won’t be mentioning the winner. I will, of course, announce that a winner has been chosen, the packaged shipped/received, etc. But I’m not using the person’s name without their ok.

#5: I’d like to support your Year of Giving, but I don’t use minders. Is there any other way?
— Yes. I’ve added the new charting service and will soon be adding downloadable patterns to my shop. Other than that, just spreading the word helps.

#6: What about 2017?
— The Year of Giving runs throughout 2016, so I have no plans for 2017. If this is successful and I think it might be sustainable, I might do another year. It depends how 2016 goes.

Get your photos charted and support the Year of Giving!

Hi all! Exciting news! I’ve decided to start accepting commissions to make charts! So if you have a photo of something you’d like to turn into a cross stitch pattern, just let me know! And, of course, a percentage of the profits will be going into the Year of Giving fund!

Each pattern will cost $10 and I will work closely with you to make sure you are 100% happy with the outcome. You don’t pay until you are happy! I won’t just throw a photo into PCStitch and call it a day, I do extensive photo editing in Adobe Photoshop before the photo even enters PCStitch. I will work with you to determine how many colors of floss you’d like to use, the count of fabric, the final project size, etc to make sure you love your final design!
